We started Aqua Earth because guesswork is too expensive when water is on the line.

Most borehole companies sell holes in the ground. We sell the science that decides where to drill, how deep to go, and whether you should drill at all. Twenty-plus years on, that’s still the only thing we’re really selling.

A single dry borehole costs more than a good site investigation. A bad water strategy costs a mine a quarter’s production, a farmer a season’s harvest, a homeowner ten years of compounding water bills. None of that is necessary. The science exists.

Albertus founded Aqua Earth in 2002 after a decade of consulting work, where he kept watching the same thing happen: a good hydrogeological recommendation handed to a client who then sourced a contractor with no further involvement. The reports were excellent. The boreholes needed attention, and his hands yearned for a hands-on approach, so it started.

Aqua Earth was set up to do both halves of the job, the science and the steel, under one roof. The same person who recommends where to drill is the person responsible for what comes out of the hole. Science, training, honesty and integrity were built into the system, and it’s the single biggest reason our work outlasts our competitors’.

Today the team has grown to include other hydrogeologists, a drilling crew, pump installers and a support team. The philosophy hasn’t changed.

“We don’t sell boreholes. We sell the confidence that the borehole will still be producing in twenty years’ time. That’s a different product, and it requires a different way of working.”

Two Decades, One Discipline

How we got here,
in four chapters.

A specialist firm,
not a one-man show.

Aqua Earth is built around a small but deep team of scientists and skilled crew. We don’t subcontract the work that matters, the people siting the borehole are the same people standing next to the rig when it’s drilled, and the same people analysing the pump-test data afterwards.

That continuity is what makes the difference between a borehole and a borehole that lasts.

What's Behind the Team

Equipment, reach and a safety
culture
that's earned, not claimed.

South Africa is running out of surface water. Dam levels drop. Municipal supply fails. Boreholes that worked five years ago run dry. And whether you’re running a mine, a farm, or a household, the cost of getting your water strategy wrong is climbing every year.

Equipment & Fleet

We own and maintain the rigs and equipment we use, we don't hire in. That means consistent operators, consistent quality, and the right rig for the geology rather than the only one available.

- Air percussion rigs for hard-rock formations
- Mud rotary for unstable sands & weathered material
- Diamond core rigs for geotechnical and mining work
- Compact rigs for residential and tight-access sites
- Pump test units with continuous data logging
- Downhole camera & geophysical kit in-house

Geographic Reach

Headquartered in Randburg, operationally Sub-Saharan. We travel for commercial-scale work and focus our domestic capacity around Gauteng and key surrounding provinces.

- South Africa all nine provinces, with active capacity in Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West and the Northern Cape
- Cross-border Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia and selected SADC projects on request
- Mobilisation within days for existing clients, within 2 weeks for new commercial site

Health, Safety & Environment

For mining and industrial clients, HSE isn't a section on the website, it's a precondition to getting on site. Our protocols are written into the ISO 9001 quality system and audited annually.
.
- Crew training in confined-space, working-at-height and rig-specific safe operating procedures.
- Site-specific HSE plans developed before mobilisation for commercial projects.
- Environmental controls spill kits, drip trays, drilling-fluid containment on every site.
- Incident-free record on all major mining projects since [ALBERTUS TO CONFIRM YEAR]

Our Standing Promise

If we're not the right people for
your site, we'll tell you that too.

Aqua Earth has built a twenty-year reputation by doing one thing differently: turning down work we don’t believe in. If your site has poor groundwater potential, we’ll tell you before we quote. If your existing borehole can be rehabilitated rather than re-drilled, we’ll tell you that. If another contractor is better placed for the job, we’ll tell you who to call.

That’s how we sleep. That’s why the work that does come in is the work worth doing.

THE NEXT STEP

Let's talk about what's
actually possible on your site.

A 30-minute conversation with one of our hydrogeologists, no quote pressure, no commitment. We tell you what’s known about your area, what’s likely under your land, and whether drilling is the right answer for you at all.
